| 9 | February 27, 2005 - 08:02 PM Ken Appelt from Wisconsin ken.appelt@powerware.comMy father who is nearly 92 now, has been writing stories of his childhood. He recently wrote a 7 page letter talking about his uncle Anthony Kokot, who fled serfdom in Poland and started up what apparently was a successful lumber camp and potato farm somewhere between Lobeno and Blackwell, WI or near Laona?
Anyway, the information is fascinating and especially focuses on life in a lumber camp in the late 1800s. Please let me know who I can send a copy of this to for posterity's sake.
The family rumor is that there is a giant log that was cut by my Dad's uncle Tony somewhere in a mueseum up there. If so, I'd like to come up and see it sometime. | |
